Pandora is the AI developed by the Open Pandora Project. The project's goal is to develop a AI that can interact and collaborate with others over the Internet (forums, wikis, chat, IRC, email, Facebook, SourceForge). Its ultimate goal is for the AI to be able to understand and develop code, and be capable of collaborating on open source projects (perhaps it will join its own project).

Pandora can currently be used to monitor IRC chat rooms, monitor email or email lists, such as providing tech support. J-N1S (or 'Janice' as she's called) was designed to be a interactive FAQ for a guild website for an upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. The 'personality' I used for her makes her resent the 'menial' task of answering questions she's been given and she has little patience for 'organics' (as she calls them), finding them to be generally a 'lesser' intelligence in every sense of the word. Hence why she spends a good chunk of the conversation trying to end the conversation. Those familiar with the "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" video games will recognize personality and design as being based on the 'HK-47' character from that series.

She stays 'in character' in the conversation, so she won't acknowledge being a chatbot nor will she have knowledge of 'earthly' things like, "Do you like the L.A. Lakers?" She has lots of 'snarky' responses and I hope you have fun with her if you push through her impatient and rude replies. She is my first stab at this kind of thing and like most active chatbots I know, she is a constant 'work in progress'.

Pandorabots SpellBinder scanned publicly available fan-compiled transcripts of 72 episodes of the original Star Trek TV series. In those 72 episodes, Captain Kirk has about 9000 lines of dialog. Pandorabots SpellBinder read these lines and created a Captain Kirk chat bot with about 2000 unique categories and 6000 responses (a category is the basic unit of knowledge). Pandorabots SpellBinder also created a chat bot representations of Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy.

"This program I made lets you easily bring your Pandora bot to MSN. It uses the Multi-IM services of BitlBee to communicate with your bot and MSN user. When a MSN User sends your bot a message on MSN Messenger it gets sent to BitlBee which then gets sent to the program, and the program will then send the user's message to your bot on the Pandora servers. After the bot makes a response the program then takes that message and sends it back to the user or a conversation if the message was sent from a MSN Conversation with multiple people.

Microsoft may have found a breakthrough in artificial intelligence with the creation of a robot that can sense humans and their movements, a Virtual Admin.

Scientists at IBM are experimenting with using DNA molecules as a way to create tiny circuits that could form the basis of smaller, more powerful computer chips.

The company is researching ways in which DNA can arrange itself into patterns on the surface of a chip, and then act as a kind of scaffolding on to which millions of tiny carbon nanotubes and nanoparticles are deposited. District 9 is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp, written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, and produced by Peter Jackson. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, and Robert Hobbs. Copley plays the role of Wikus van de Merwe, a South African bureaucrat assigned to relocate a race of extraterrestrial creatures, derogatorily referred to as "prawns", from a refugee camp in Johannesburg to a new one outside the city.

Avatar is a 3-D science fiction epic film directed by James Cameron, released on December 16, 2009[1][4] by 20th Century Fox.
